I love you, oh Lord, my strength. – Psalm 18:1
Yesterday I took three international students to Carowinds, because I planned to invite them to the Truth Project our church is planning on starting. I was hoping that by inviting them to fun events, it would be easier to invite them to the Truth Project later too. We had fun at Carowinds, and I won a HUGE dog!!! It was from one of those games where you get one throw for a dollar; then if your ball falls right into the small whole (that is just about the size of the ball and very hard to make), you get a huge stuffed animal. I had never played those games before, because I can see how people easily lose $5, $10, or even more money and not get anything – after all, that is exactly how they make money!
But there was this dog whose eyes were like, staring at me, calling on my name, “Please take me home!” So I got a strange idea and prayed to God: “Father, please have mercy on me (since I was going through a hard time last summer) and lighten up my day with this little gift.” Then I went and put in $3 for three shots (the minimum amount), and the sales lady started trying to get more money from me, “See, if you put in $5, you can get 6 shots...” I said no, because if God is going to put the strength and precision in my hand for it, 3 shots are already more than enough.
Sure enough, the second ball fell right into the little hole and I got to take this big buddy home! Then all those people who lost $5, $10, or even more in this game started staring at me and my new dog. This is how amazing God’s love for me – He listens to the smallest requests I present before Him and gladly grants them.
